Reni Reveals Her Friendship with a World-Class Figure Skater

In an Instagram post on November 5, Momoiro Clover Z’s Takagi Reni revealed her close friendship with former Olympic pair skater Takahashi Narumi.

Takahashi made history at the 2012 World Figure Skating Championships, where she partnered with Mervin Tran to win bronze, earning Japan its first-ever World Championship medal in pairs skating. She also competed at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics alongside Ryuichi Kihara, who later formed the “Riku-Ryu” pair with Riku Miura and won gold at the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics.

Since retiring from competitive skating, Takahashi has become a popular television personality, known for her cheerful character. Her commentary at the Milano Cortina Olympics drew wide attention, and in the first half of 2026 she topped a television ratings research firm’s ranking of breakout TV personalities. In addition to figure skating commentary, she frequently appears on variety shows and other television programs.

The story began when Takahashi appeared on TOKYO FM’s radio program “TOKYO SPEAKEASY.” During the broadcast, she named Reni as someone she was particularly close to in her private life and shared some heartwarming stories about their friendship.

In response, Reni took to Instagram: “Something wonderful happened recently, so I just had to share it!” Alongside a photo taken by Takahashi, she wrote, “Someone I adore so much apparently mentioned my name in the media and even shared such a lovely story about me.”

Reni explained that the two hadn’t been in touch much lately because Takahashi seemed so busy. But when Takahashi sent her a “Happy Halloween” message on October 31, Reni realized how much she missed her, and she closed the post by saying she can’t wait to see Takahashi again.

Takahashi was quick to respond in the comments: “Reni-chan! I always want to see you too!!”

Mononogu reacted with comments such as “What an unexpected combination! I’m surprised!” and “I feel like the two of them would really hit it off.”
