One of MCZ's role models is going on hiatus.
Today, the three-member technopop unit Perfume announced on their official website that they will be suspending activities at the end of this year and entering a "cold sleep."
As a long-running female J-POP unit that has continued to perform for many years without any member changes, Perfume can be considered a senior to MCZ. The group was formed seven years earlier than MCZ, in 1999, and has since built a 26-year career. Their major debut came in 2005, also five years ahead of MCZ.
The members are currently 36?37 years old, making them four to eight years senior to MCZ as well.
In the music video for their latest work megu-loop, the ending features a scene where the members time-leap back to their high school days and perform the choreography of their major debut song Linear Motor Girl. This scene had already sparked discussions among fans - known as "P.T.A." (the nickname for Perfume fans) - who speculated that it carried a meaningful message.
The news has also unsettled many Mononofus.
