Fans reflect on Furu-chan's birthday
Today, August 21, is the birthday of Furuya Tomomi, the beloved manager who supported MCZ for many years and was affectionately known as Furu-chan. And the following day, August 22, is the anniversary of her death.
It has been three years since she passed away on August 22, 2023, the day after turning 40. Once again this year, posts remembering her have been spreading among Mononofus on X and other platforms.
Furu-chan served as a manager for Momoiro Clover from the group's early days, supporting the members at television appearances, live performances, and countless other events.
She also frequently appeared on variety shows, where her friendly smile and memorable stories made her beloved by Mononofus as well. Alongside Kawakami Akira, she watched over the group's growth and also played an important role as a bridge between the group and its fans.
During her battle with illness in 2023, shortly before her passing, the members held a 40th birthday party for her in her hospital room, according to Kawakami.
Since then, her name has always been included in the credits of MCZ's video releases. (There was one occasion when her name was accidentally omitted due to a production error, but that was the only exception.)
Even the Blu-ray of last winter's live concert, released this week, lists Furu-chan's name in the credits as a "manager."
On the birthday of Momoiro Clover Z and Mononofu's "eternal manager," fans continue to remember her and hold her in their hearts.
With her memory close to them, the bond between the group and its fans will continue for years to come.
