Announcer with close ties to MCZ becomes popular in drama.

SHIGEKI Kiyono, a freelance announcer closely associated with MCZ, appears in the drama “Goku Aku Jouou” (English title: “The Queen of Villains”), which has been available on Netflix since September 19.

"The Queen of Villains” is a drama set in the world of women's professional wrestling, which became very popular in Japan in the 1980s. The story centers on the main character, who was the ‘worst heel’ in the sport, and depicts various human situations.

The drama received great acclaim immediately after its release and is currently in sole possession of the number one spot on the Japanese Netflix rankings.

SHIGEKI became an announcer because of his love for professional wrestling, but since the early days of MCZ, he has also frequently appeared as a supplemental announcer for MCZ's stage performances.

At MCZ concerts, a scene in which SHIORI slaps SHIGEKI on the cheek while saying a famous line from a professional wrestler became a standard part of the show.

The scene drew laughter from the mononofus as SHIGEKI's black-rimmed glasses flew off his face in a perfect manner after being slapped on the cheek.

Sometimes his glasses flew offstage, and he and SHIORI were a great duo with their exquisite skills.

Even today, MCZ and SHIGEKI continue to perform together on TOKYO FM's regular radio program “Happy Clover Top 10."

In this Netflix drama, SHIGEKI plays ATSUO Shiono, a popular TV announcer for All Japan Women's Pro Wrestling in the 1980s.

SHIGEKI's usual great tone is kept in check, and his trademark glasses are removed to faithfully recreate the image of ATSUO from that era, and he also does a wonderful job as an actor.
