MCZ performed with Southern All Stars.
As reported in yesterday's article, MCZ performed on the last day (DAY 5) of ROCK IN JAPAN FESTIVAL 2024 in HITACHINAKA on September 23.
MCZ was the second performer on the biggest stage of the day (GRASS STAGE), starting at 11:40, but to our surprise, they also performed with the headliner, Southern All Stars, at 5:45 pm.
Southern All Stars is one of the most popular legendary rock bands in Japan, but due to the advanced age of their members (vocalist Keisuke Kuwata is 68 years old), it had been announced that this would be their last appearance at the Summer Music Festival on stage.
Since their appearance was announced, tickets for the final day were sold out, and only the portion of their performance was to be live viewed in movie theaters nationwide.
This live viewing was held at 332 movie theaters with 611 screens in all prefectures, with approximately 155,000 people attending, making it the largest attendance ever for a live viewing of a summer festival performance by a single artist in Japan.
The longest performance of the festival, lasting about 100 minutes, featured 19 songs, and at the 19th song, their debut “Katteni Sinbad,” Keisuke called all the artists on stage, including MCZ.
KEISUKE, who for some reason was performing wearing a T-shirt designed as “momoclo 517,” MCZ's live merchandise, turned the microphone on to SHIORI with a surprise “Please give me a closing word” at the end of the song, the most final scene of the live performance.
SHIORI was so moved that she said to the total of about 200,000 people in the audience.
Thanks to Southern, my name is now SHIORI.
* The name SHIORI was chosen because her parents were big fans of Southern All Stars and named her after their most famous song, “SHIORI's Theme."
