Reni was delighted by the high appraisal
Reni appeared as a guest in the "Heisei-born Star Treasure Appraisal Tournament" segment of TV Tokyo's program "Kaiun nandemo kantei dan (maans 'Good Luck! Anything Appraisal Team')" spring super extended special, which aired last night.
The show features various celebrities bringing in their own "treasures" to be evaluated, and Reni presented a wristwatch inherited from her late great-grandfather.
She shared the story that the watch had originally been received by her ancestor as collateral for a loan given to an acquaintance. The item submitted for appraisal turned out to be a wristwatch from the ultra-luxury Swiss brand "Patek Philippe".
Reni's own estimated value was 2 million yen, but the appraiser's valuation far exceeded that, coming in at 3.5 million yen.
The appraiser commented:
"This is undoubtedly a Patek Philippe. It is a dress watch from the late 1970s, with both the case and bracelet made of 18-karat white gold. The bezel is set with what are called baguette diamonds, more than 50 in total. The prongs holding the diamonds are well balanced, with nearly identical sizes and a consistent design, demonstrating superb craftsmanship. Diamonds are also embedded around the dial, and the royal blue dial in particular is extremely rare and produced in very limited numbers. The condition is also excellent, close to unused."
Upon hearing this, Reni shouted,
"Wow, yes! Great-grandpa!"
