Reni Finishes Her First Full Marathon with an Impressive Time

Reni completed her first full marathon on October 25, finishing the Yokohama Marathon 2026 in 4 hours, 13 minutes, and 44 seconds.

A Yokohama native, Reni took part as an official guest of the event. Last year she ran the half-marathon-length Wangan Highway Run at the same event in 1:54:30, and when her full marathon entry was announced, she said her first goal was simply to reach the finish line rather than chase a time. Running through occasional rain in purple shoes, she did more than that.

After the race, she said:

I had never run that distance, even in training, so I was nervous. It felt like stepping into the unknown. But I had so much fun that the race seemed to fly by.

She was happy with the result but is already looking ahead:

I'm happy with my time for my first marathon. I plan to run a few more full marathons, and I want to aim for a sub-four-hour finish.

According to social media posts from Mononofu who cheered along the course, as well as from fellow runners, Reni kept interacting with people throughout the race, even in the tougher later stages. She reportedly smiled, waved, and called out to runners who seemed to be her fans.

Given how much energy she put into those interactions, her finishing time stands out even more. Mononofu will now be watching for her next race and her bid to break four hours.
