MCZ delivered a strong performance at Kuro Fes, but some issues remain.

"Kuro Fes 2026: Red and White Singing Contest," hosted by legendary singer Matsuzaki Shigeru, was held yesterday at Toyosu PIT in Tokyo for the 12th consecutive year, marking its 12th edition.

This year's event was a commemorative occasion ahead of Matsuzaki's 77th birthday. MCZ has appeared at every edition since the inaugural event, extending its perfect attendance record.

During a media interview before the show, KANAKO said, "It started with our connection to the word 'kuro'  means black - 'clo' in Momoclo sounds similar to the Japanese pronunciation of black - and now Kuro Fes has become a guidepost for us." SHIORI commented, "Since we are in our 18th year, Kuro Fes has been part of almost our entire career." AYAKA added, "I want to continue following in Shigeru's footsteps."

For MCZ, which has no major summer concert scheduled this year, this was its first music festival appearance since HOTEI FES on July 25.

The concert began at 4:30 p.m., but no timetable had been announced in advance, and the main issue turned out to be the schedule.

In previous years, the finishing time had not been announced beforehand. Many attendees apparently remembered last year's event ending at around 8:30 p.m., and it seems that a noticeable number of fans traveling from distant locations had purchased same-day return tickets based on that assumption.

In reality, however, MCZ did not take the stage until after 9 p.m. The entire event reportedly ended at around 10 p.m., and social media posts suggested that some attendees had to leave without seeing MCZ perform. 

Some had even planned to go to Kushikatsu Tanaka for an after-party, only to find that they could no longer make it before closing time.

The performance itself featured a classic five-song setlist that was described as having the feel of a "mini summer concert," and those who were able to see the four members up close appeared highly satisfied. 

However, as this was a festival, providing clearer scheduling information for attendees who need to catch the last trains or buses appears to be an issue that should be addressed in the future.
