Village Funding for Autumn Live Event Sparks Debate

Funding for MCZ's major autumn live event has become a topic of discussion in the host village.

MCZ's major live event, "Momoiro Clover Z Autumn Tojin-sai 2026," will be held on October 17 and 18 at Amagadai General Park in Chosei Village, Chiba Prefecture. With less than three weeks to go before the event, it has become a topic of discussion that a project budget of around 100 million yen was debated at the previous meeting of the Chosei Village Assembly. Mononofus have also begun reacting to the issue.

At the village assembly meeting in July, the appropriateness of the approximately 107.5 million yen budget prepared by the village for the live event was discussed.

As is customary with MCZ's community-oriented live events, the host community is not asked to cover the costs of the concert itself, including artist fees, production and ticketing expenses.

This time, however, Chosei Village expects to spend 66.66 million yen on venue setup and 27.049 million yen on security services, among other costs. These figures have become a topic of discussion.

In response, the village explained at the assembly that it expects to raise 20 million yen through a hometown-tax crowdfunding campaign, with that amount set as the target, 80 million yen from its Hometown Support Fund, and 12 million yen from merchandise sales and other sources.

The discussion has since been widely shared by Mononofus. One post on X, which has received more than 70,000 views, said, "It seems that some residents are opposed to the event. Let's generate more than 100 million yen in economic impact together and make this a live show that makes the village glad it invited MCZ."

There have also been comments such as, "Let's spend money in the village," and, "I can't go, so I made a hometown-tax donation."

As Mononofus continue to share the details of the village assembly's discussion, they are also taking it upon themselves to contribute to the event's KPIs.

Whether the public funds spent by the village have produced the expected results will be assessed after the event through spending within the village, tax donations and visitor behavior.

The efforts of Mononofus are being put to the test.
