RENI to Perform a Solo Stage at Her "Friends' of 13 Years" Town

It has been announced that RENI will perform at the "Onagawa Autumn Harvest Festival 2026," to be held on Sunday, October 11, at the Seaside Square in Onagawa, Miyagi Prefecture.

RENI is scheduled to take the stage at 3:05 p.m. for a slot of approximately 40 minutes. Admission is free.

This year's Harvest Festival is being held as a special event commemorating the 100th anniversary of Onagawa Town's establishment.

The main attraction will be an attempt to set a Guinness World Record for "Most grilled fish served in 8 hours." Around 30 meters of U-shaped drainage channels will be lined up at the venue, where Pacific saury will be continuously grilled over charcoal in the signature "Onagawa-style" manner. Approximately 10,000 saury are expected to be prepared, while silver salmon, for which Onagawa boasts Japan's highest production volume, will also be available for tasting and sale.

RENI's performance is scheduled immediately after the record attempt.

MCZ and Onagawa Town have maintained a "friends of the town" relationship for more than a decade, dating back to 2013. They are neither official goodwill ambassadors nor honorary citizens. Instead, they have continued their relationship as companions walking together through the long process of reconstruction.

The relationship began with Onagawa Saigai FM, a temporary disaster radio station launched after the Great East Japan Earthquake.

After RENI learned that female high school students of her generation were working as personalities at the station, she suggested that she wanted to visit.

The group made its first visit on May 15, 2013. Without any advance announcement, they appeared on the station's live lunchtime program "Onagawa Now." They met crowds of local residents and posed for photographs, and also held a surprise live performance at Onagawa Elementary School. The town told them, "Reconstruction will still take time. We want you to stay involved over the long term," choosing a relationship over an official title.

Since then, MCZ has continued to maintain ties with Onagawa Town through various events and broadcasts, and this appearance at the Harvest Festival represents a continuation of that relationship.

On the other hand, Onagawa Town also has a long-standing connection with WACK, the artist management company that previously represented artists including BiSH. Even before MCZ became involved, WACK had maintained various exchanges with the town following the earthquake, including a series of collaborative events held in Onagawa under the names "ONAGAWACK" and "WE ARE ONAGAWACKERS!!"

At an event in February 2023, WACK acquired the naming rights to a dedicated sports stadium developed as part of the town's reconstruction efforts. It was named "WACK Onagawa Stadium."

However, WACK has announced that all but one of its groups, whose production format differs from the others, will disband by the end of this year, leaving the company's future involvement with Onagawa uncertain.

With MCZ's connection to the town being reaffirmed this time, the announcement also serves as an indication that support for the town's reconstruction through idol culture will continue for years to come.
