Competition to attract spring live concerts is fierce.

MCZ has announced that it will hold a large-scale live concert, "Haru no Ichi daiji 2023," on April 22 and 23 of next year, and is soliciting proposals from local governments across the country

The deadline for submitting proposals for the event was apparently this week, and the mayors of several municipalities have publicly stated that they have submitted their proposals.

Among them, Taketoyo Toguchi, the mayor of Nago City, Okinawa Prefecture, is the most conspicuous so far.

Nago City has announced on its official website that it has applied for the project, and has also uploaded a video on its official Youtube site.

Nago City is often featured in national political news due to the issue of the relocation of the U.S. military base, which has divided public opinion.

The current mayor of Nago City was just reelected this past January after winning a hotly contested election over this national issue.

However, here he is doing his best to make a presentation in full mononofu style.

The background music is "Hashire!" played on a sanshin, a stringed instrument that has been handed down from generation to generation in Okinawa Prefecture.

According to the mayor's presentation comments, Nago City also applied in 2020 but was not selected.

This year was Fukushima, but we would love to visit Okinawa in the spring, too.
